URBAN INSTALLATIONS

Thanks to commuting everyday on the side seat of the car for 2 hrs, I have the chance to look out of the window and to catch some instant views (especially views of the construction areas) exciting me along the way. I'd like to remind that: we are living in a city which is continuously being built on desert& ocean. at every point where the city ends, emptiness of desert and the building activities start.
The striking effect of the desert's and the ocean's unidentified blank space and any temporary/permanent object located on them... Now, I know that this figure and ground connection has triggered me. the single/multi and rhythmic interrelationships between space and the makers/ pieces of construction... in fact, the installations/ place-makings/ gestalt associations which are originating from the city's own dynamics... In my mind, unique images of placelessness and eternity. merely spectacular objects... I am in pursuit of an installation/video art effect (which we take it as an intended composition for granted) emerging from display of the random and ephemeral.

Based on this perception, I'm detaching what I see from its ordinary position and attaching a metaphorical name and meaning just as an artwork would have. therefore, "urban installations" title is a reference. I don't know if my attempt conveys me anywhere, but I will continue to keep this log of spots by occasionally uploading here.
note-1: with a fundamental description; both Abu Dhabi and Dubai cities can be considered as huge urban installations themselves. However, their being gigantic settlements on the desert is not a point of departure for me, it is only an inference.
note-2: Photography is completely another discipline; yet here is only a tool for documentation.
note-3: I'm maintaining a sub-argument about what "contemporary art" is by tagging random formations with no artistic goal as: “installation art". I think what most impressive is the equality between them.

“Yersiz nesnelerin yerlesimine dair bir manifesto”
Her sey, sehir merkezinde bulunan is yerimiz ile sehrin kenarinda konumlanmis evimiz arasinda her gun yaptigimiz araba yolculuklarimiz sirasinda yan koltuktan disariyi izlerken, yol boyu gordugum goruntulerin (daha cok insaat sahalarina ait goruntuler) uyandirdigi gorsel heyecanlar ile basladi. Once sunu belirteyim: colun uzerine insa edilmis ve durmaksizin insa edilmeye devam eden bir kentte yasiyoruz. Sehre dair belirtilerin kayboldugu her noktada col basliyor ve bu col, okyanusun kenarinda.
Colun (ve okyanusun) getirdigi o sonsuz ve tarifsiz bosluk ve uzerindeki gecici, kalici, donusturucu nesnelerin carpiciligi... Bendeki hisleri uyandiranin bu oldugunu simdi biliyorum. Insa edilmekte olan, insa edilmis olan ve insa etme araci olarak kullanilan nesnelerin ritmik, coklu veya tek basina uzam ile iliskili halleri... Aslinda bir nevi sehrin kendi dinamiginin ve hatta statiginin urettigi yerlestirmeler/ enstalasyonlar, gestalt cagrisimlari... Benim zihnimde, yersizlik ve sonsuzluk imgesi ile yuklu bir arka plan ile kurulan her biri kendine ozgu iliskiler... Seyirlik nesneler... Dolayisiyla da rastlantisal olanin kurgulanmis/ tasarlanmis olana benzer carpiciligindan yola cikiyorum... Sehrin kendi ozune ait, kendiliginden varolan bir enstalasyon etkisini sorguluyorum.
Bu imgelemden yola cikarak gorsellere, "Kentsel Yerlestirmeler" ismini verdim ve bu seri, giderek eklemeler yaptigim bir lekeler arsivine donustu.
not-1: Abu dhabi de Dubai de kocaman birer "yerlestirme sehir"ler, ozunde. Bu sehirleri, komple tasarlanmis ve bosluga yerlestirilmis 2 buyuk enstalasyon olarak ele almak da bence mumkun; ama bunu projeme dair bir cikarim olarak soyluyorum, cikis noktam olarak degil.
not-2: Fotografi ve videoyu; kafamdaki imgenin pesinde bir belgeleme araci olarak ve ele aldigim nesneyi baglamindan koparip baska bir nesneye, estetik kaygi guden bir sanat nesnesine donusturme amacli kullaniyorum.
not-3: Gorsellerin icerigi aslinda sanat/ sanatci cabasi icermedigi halde, sonuc urunu o baglamda ele alarak ve icerige enstalasyon diyerek guncel sanata gonderme yapip, ona dair bir sorgulamayi ikincil de olsa yurutuyorum.
not-4: Bu tamamlanmis degil tam aksine bana verdigi nuvelerle ileriye donuk beslenen bir proje. Hatta baska sehirler de kendi yerlestirmeleri ile bu anlamda bu kadar guclu bir cagrisima malzeme verirler mi bunu ileriki zamanlarda gorecegim. Su an bulundugum kentin konstruktif dinamikleri, tum gecici ve kalici nesnelerinin bu ortak amaca yonelik hareketlerinden etkilenerek uretmeye ve basta videolar ile olmak uzere baglamindan kopararak estetik kaygi guden bir ust serinin parcasi haline getirmeye devam ediyorum.
